Directions for using the Quick View Desk Accessory by Dan Crevier
Quick View is a simple desk accessory that can be used for viewing files in
either text or hex. Install it as you would install any other desk accessory.
When you select the Quick View desk accessory, it will prompt you for a file
name, as well as giving you some other options. You can view the file in
text mode or in hex mode. If you select smart, it will view the file in text
mode if the file type is TEXT, and in hex mode if it isn't. You can also
choose which fork of the file you want to view. If you choose smart, it will
view the data fork if there is one, or the resource for if there isn't. After
you select the file, a window will be opened showing the contents of the file.
The scroll bar can be used to move through the file, or the following key
board equivalents:
[Space Bar], [PgDn] - Scroll down a page
[B], [PgUp] - Scroll up a page
[Down arrow] - Scroll down a line
[Up arrow] - Scroll up a line
[Q] - quit
[Home] - go to the beginning of the file
[End] - go to the end of the file
That's it! It is very simple to use, but I find it useful. You can use it
to view files from Word or other word processors, without having to load the
applications. There are some random control characters in the file, but the
text is still readable.
If you find this program useful, all I ask is that you send $4.00 to:
